LOCAL SPORTS ORGANIZATIONS
The Southern New England Softball League provides a great atmosphere for anyone and everyone to learn and play softball in the Connecticut and Western Massachusetts areas.
Currently there are six teams in the league, providing everyone in Southern New England an opportunity to have fun, make friends and stay active.
The league is an active member of NAGAAA (The North American Gay Amateur Athletic Association).
Knickerbocker Sailing Association (includes members in Connecticut)
Established in 1994 by 13 friends from NYC, KSA has grown to over 200 active members. Our club consists of members that own boats that are looking to share experiences with, and members that do not own boat and are looking to learn about sailing, or crew on a boat.
Some our members are gay or lesbian,while others are straight, bisexual or transgender. KSA is a friendly, nonjudgmental group of people that have joined the club to share new life experiences, on the water together.
Rainbow Bowling League
The Rainbow Bowling League meets Thursdays at 7:30 p.m.at Wallingford Bowl, 980 North Colony Road. The 50-person league plays for 32 weeks, usually September through April or May, and is open to anyone who would like to participate. Though the four-person leagues are set for now, they will hold sign-up night for the next season in August. People are invited to watch or cheer teams on for the remainder of this season. Sweetheart Silver Balls Invitational
LGBT bowling tournament held each year on Valentine’s Day Weekend. It is the only internationally recognized LGBT sporting event in the state of Connecticut has supported many charities over the years. Since 2009, the Sweetheart Invitational, along with support from our sponsors and bowlers, has donated nearly $70,000 to state and local charities. Shoreline Roller Derby League is an all-female non-profit organization owned and operated by the skaters, for the skaters. All our strong, competitive, fearless women share in the decision making process. Our primary goals are to learn, play, and promote women’s flat track roller derby. We wish to advance roller derby and women’s athleticis in our community through the dedication of our time, energy, love for each other, and passion for the sport, community service, and fundraising events. (Women’s Flat Track Derby Association has a gender policy that is inclusive of transgender.)

OutRyders – New England’s GLBT Ski & Snowboard Club
OutRyders is New England’s largest gay and lesbian ski and snowboard club. We’re all about great friends, great mountain fun, and great times together at off-mountain social events. (And we get great trip discounts too!)
Chiltern Mountain Club – New England’s leading GLBT Outdoors Club
The club is an inclusive lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) club and welcomes friends and family. CMC trips page lists a variety of events, including hiking, biking, canoeing, kayaking, camping, skiing, and many other outdoor-related activities club members are leading. Chiltern events are open to members and non-members alike, and activities range anywhere from an easy garden walk to a strenuous backpacking trip in the White Mountains. We welcome people of all abilities and backgrounds, so there’s no need to feel intimidated if you’re new to an activity.
NATIONAL SPORTS ORGANIZATIONS
The Gay and Lesbian International Sport Association is a democratically governed, international association of LGBT sport and human rights organizations from around the world. Our membership is diverse and non exclusionary. NAGVA is an organization of over 3,000 members in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.
GayOutdoors host social events and group trips to the country’s best destinations for gay and gay-friendly men of all skill levels.
IGBO, an international gay bowling organization with over 8000 members worldwide, continues to grow as the number one and official bowling organization for the LGBT community on the planet. We have members currently in Australia, Canada, and United States of America. Currently we are reaching out to several European countries to expand our presence and bring together the global community to the sport of bowling in its various forms.
